Lauren Russel
"Lauren began her dance training at the age of 12 and went on to study musical theatre and dance at Colorado Mesa University. She then completed the musical theatre conservatory program at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. While studying at AMDA, she received training in ballet, tap, and jazz from multiple Broadway choreographers and performers, including Casey Colgan, Billy Johnston, Michelle Bruckner, and more. After graduating, she continued to train in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and modern at Steps on Broadway, while booking work in commercials, music videos, and independent films. She moved back to Colorado in 2016 and is now a full-time actor, singer, dancer, director, choreographer, and theatre/dance teacher in Denver, Boulder, and the surrounding areas. She has performed as a featured dancer in numerous musicals at a variety of theatres, including Vintage Theatre, Performance Now, the PACE Center, and Breckenridge Backstage. She recently choreographed Xanadu Jr. and Seussical Jr. at Manhattan Middle School, and currently teaches acting and vocal performance classes for Northglenn Youth Theatre. Lauren is also a founding member of the Something Different acting troupe, where she writes and performs original sketches and songs in a monthly variety show.
Lauren loves teaching theatre and dance to all ages, and is passionate about finding ways to integrate technique, discipline, creativity, and fun into her classes. She is so excited to be teaching some of the creative movement and pre-ballet classes here at Boulder Ballet, where she gets to share her love of dance with young kiddos at the beginning of their dance journey.
