Step into the enchanting world of The Wizard of Oz as our talented students bring this timeless tale to life! Join us for an unforgettable journey down the yellow brick road, where Dorothy, Toto, and their beloved companions embark on a whimsical adventure filled with courage, friendship, and the power of believing in oneself.

There once was a young girl named Dorothy, who lived with her Auntie Em in the rural plains of Kansas. She lived a simple life and spent all of her time with her small dog, Toto. One day, Almira, a nosy neighbor, tries to capture Dorothy’s dog to send it away, claiming Toto is causing too much trouble. During this scuffle, a horrible twister touches down and causes a great disaster. Dorothy and Toto are swept away, and the twister drops them in the mysterious Land of Oz: a vibrant world overflowing with new friends, animals, witches, and a peculiar wizard.

Looking forward to getting home, Dorothy sets off on an adventurous journey back to Kansas. Along the way, she meets a silly scarecrow, a lonely tinman, and a very shy lion. Her new friends guide her along the yellow brick road toward Emerald City, in hopes of finding the Wizard of Oz, who can grant their wishes. Little did Dorothy know, she had the power all along to make her dreams come true!

The Wizard Of OZ by Boulder Ballet School

The Wizard of Oz

The ruby red slippers are the shoes worn by Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Some say they symbolize hope and power. After all, those sparkling shoes can transport Dorothy back home and protect her from the Wicked Witch of the West.

Soles4Souls also believes in the power of shoes.  When you donate new or gently worn shoes, you’re caring for the planet and changing someone’s life. Soles4Souls is an organization that works to get new shoes to people in need. They also turn unwanted shoes into opportunity by keeping them out of the trash and by helping people in developing countries start and grow businesses that sell donated shoes.

This year, Boulder Ballet will have several large collection boxes out at our Storybook performances. Please consider donating new or gently used street shoes.  At this time, we are not collecting dance shoes.

We hope you can help contribute to our shoe drive at one of our Storybook performances. Together we can make a difference!
