BEGINNING TEEN BALLET
Designed for students who are new to ballet and want classical training that will prepare them to integrate into regular student-based classes.

Summer Intensives: July 8–26

Students should register for the same level as in spring 2019.  New students will be placed in a level after the first class. Throughout the week students participate in a variety of classes, starting each day with technique and pointe/pre-pointe followed by a series of complementary disciplines with an emphasis on building the classical ballet dancer.
Classes Offered:
• Technique, pointe and variations
• Jazz, tap, musical theatre and contemporary dance
• Conditioning, Pilates, Zumba® and body-rolling

Master Classes: August 5–9

A strong platform for dancers who want to attain a professional ballet experience and for those who simply want to deepen their enjoyment of the art of dance.

Technique runs the first 90 minutes of each day’s class (excluding level 2B)

Master Teacher: David Taylor 


David Taylor has been professionally involved in the Colorado dance community for the past 49 years. During the course of a 12-year dance career, he began choreographing, and has created well over 100 original works since 1976. In 1979, he founded David Taylor Dance Theatre, which for 32 years was recognized as one of the Rocky Mountain region’s most acclaimed dance organizations and was Denver’s original contemporary ballet company. He has been commissioned to create and/or stage ballets for Opera Colorado, the Colorado Symphony, the Denver Chamber Orchestra, and Aspen/Santa Fe Ballet among others. Mr. Taylor has received many awards including three National Endowment for the Arts grants and was inducted into the Carson-Brierly Dance Library’s prestigious “Living Legends of Dance” in 2008.

Currently, Mr. Taylor serves as the Artistic Director and upper level ballet program faculty member for Denver Ballet Theatre where he teaches ballet technique, pas de deux, pointe, variations and dance history. He is also the founder and artistic director of Zikr Dance Ensemble, a unique professional company that offers a spectrum of works based on dance rituals from many different ancient world cultures as well as contemporary dance/theatre realizations.

 

Variations Classes: August 5–7

This is an opportunity for students to get a jump start on preparation for competitions. All students interested in being considered for YAGP coaching need to register for a variations class.

Adult Drop-in Classes: May 28–August 18

(No classes July 4)
Drop-in classes are offered for dancers ages 12 through adult. No pre-registration is required. Payment is by the class or multiple class card. You can pay by cash or check at the studio before class or purchase class cards with a credit card.
